The Micron Guide
A micron is one-millionth of a meter — the industry's way of measuring how thick a single fiber is. Lower numbers mean finer, softer wool.

Micron isn't everything
Two fleeces with the same micron count can feel very different. Crimp, staple length, breed, and how it's prepared all change how the fiber behaves in your hands.
If a fleece is meant to be worn against skin, aim for 21 micron or under. If it's for an outer garment, 22–26 is a wonderful working range. Above 28, celebrate what the fiber does best — warm, sturdy fabric that lasts a generation.
